Fire Department Warns Of Solicitation Scam After Natural Gas Emergency

The Andover Fire Department is warning citizens about calls from people claiming to be solicitors of donations in support of the natural gas emergency in the Merrimack Valley. The department says a resident got one such call today.

In a statement, Chief Michael Mansfield says that safety officials are not soliciting monetary donations of any kind. He calls it shameful that someone would try to capitalize on this incident for their personal gain.

Thursday, Mansfield said the scene in Andover, as explosions and fires erupted across three Merrimack Valley cities, “looked like Armageddon.”
