Some Merrimack Valley Residents Switching To Oil Heat

BOSTON, MA (WBZ-AM) -- As we head into the chilly fall and winter months - oil heat dealers and contractors in the Merrimack valley are finding themselves far busier than usual.

They're getting more calls from homes and businesses to convert to oil after last week's gas explosions.

According to Michael Ferrante, President of the Mass Energy Marketers Association, he says a number of residents who still don't have their gas service back have been calling local oil dealers, inquiring about switching to either oil or propane.

Ferrante says it generally costs about $10,000 to $12,00 dollars to convert from gas to oil . He says that the association is also working with state officials to help in any way they can.
