BOSTON, MA (WBZ-AM) -- The Red Sox are off Thursday. They'll start their final series of the regular season Friday against the Yankees, and one Boston player will have a chance to bolster his odds of continuing his season in the playoffs.
If there was any doubt, Rafael Devers seemed to play his way onto Boston's playoff roster yesterday.Red Sox split their double-header with the Orioles, but Devers went 5-for-8 with two homers that traveled a combined 879 feet, six RBI , two doubles, and three runs.
Devers still has to compete with Eduardo Nunez for the regular starting spot at third, but he's hit well since returning from the disabled list. He's batting .324 with six extra-base hits and 10 ribbies his last nine.
