False Alarm Causes Lockdown At Simmons

BOSTON (WBZ-AM) -- Students at Simmons University, Emmanuel College, and other Fenway schools received shelter-in-place messages following a gunshot scare Thursday afternoon. Sometime after 3:00 PM Simmons University sent out the all-clear announcement, but not before students were shaken by the incident.

"It was shocking in the moment," one student told WBZ NewsRadio 1030. "It's definitely something that's a scary thing to go through. Them having you evacuate the building and then stand there, it kind of made you feel like a sitting duck in the way."

One student theorized that the sound was a bunch of balloons popping nearby.
