BOSTON (WBZ-AM) -- The Bruins are back in action for the first time since Thursday's 4-0 shutout of the Sabres in Buffalo. Tuukka Rask will be in net today at the Garden for the home opener against the Senators.
While Jaroslav Halak is coming off a 32-save whitewash, Rask is just hoping to make it through the entire game after getting pulled halfway through last Wednesday's loss in D-C.
Holliston native Mike Condon will be in net for the Senators - his first game in Boston.
One notable change today for the B's is the move for star David Backes. Backes is shifting from the wing to third-line center to quarterback a line with Danton Heinen and Anders Bjork.
"We had talked to David about it. He's got some speed, some skill on his wings, so that was part of the thinking," head coach Bruce Cassidy said about the change.
Backes is excited about the "opportunity to play with two really young, skilled players." Adding, "If I can be the old wisdom inbetween their skill and youthfulness, then maybe it's a good fit."
Backes has averaged about 16 minutes of ice his first two games, with two total shots. He's also split his face-off chances.
Walpole's Chris Wagner will make his B's home debut.
