WORCESTER, Mass. (AP) - A Massachusetts man charged in the beating death of his 6-year-old daughter has been held without bail.The Telegram & Gazette reports that Marvin Brito, of Fitchburg, was held after pleading not guilty Monday in Superior Court to manslaughter in the April 10 killing of Sofia Brito.
The 38-year-old Brito's wife is under is under indictment on a murder charge in the slaying and is scheduled to be arraigned Nov. 1.
Police responding to the couple's home found the girl and her 9-year-old brother seriously injured. The children were taken to the hospital where the girl died.
The medical examiner determined that the girl died of blunt force injuries.
Brito's attorney asked for and was granted the opportunity to request bail at a future date.
