BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Red Sox will celebrate their latest championship win at the White House on May 9, but not every Boston player will attend.
Mookie Betts, Jackie Bradley Junior, and Rafael Devers have already said they're not going and, several, including manager Alex Cora, remain publicly undecided.
However, Sox slugger J.D. Martinez says he wouldn't miss it.
"I'm going yeah, I believe it's an honor to go," Martinez said. "That's our capital.That's the White House...not a lot of people get to go there...so I am pretty excited about it, " Martinez said.
We'll eventually find out how many other Sox players, coaches, and front office execs are also excited to meet with President Donald Trump. This trip will mark the team's fourth to the White House since 2004.
The Patriots will also head to Washington D.C. after winning their sixth Super Bowl.
