BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The Cannabis Advisory Board met Tuesday in downtown Boston to vote on recommendations concerning social use cannabis establishments.
They voted on a number of recommendations pertaining to future cannabis social use establishments.
For instance, they approved a regulation stating that no one under 21 should be allowed in such an establishment and there should be training for staff at social use establishments similar to the certification offered to servers in restaurants or bars that serve alcohol.
Board member Michael Latulippe tells WBZ NewsRadio that they're laying the foundation for future cannabis cafes in the Commonwealth, something that would be unique to Massachusetts.
He said instead of bringing cannabis to an establishment, which is what is done in Colorado, an individual would go to a Cannabis Cafe and purchase the cannabis and consume it on site.
These recommendations now go to the State Cannabis Control Commission which will consider them at a later date.
