BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Boston Police rescued two men who were clinging to a buoy in the waters of Boston’s inner harbor after their kayak capsized.

The incident occurred Saturday evening near Thompson’s Island after the kayakers encountered strong winds and choppy sea. Their kayak capsized and sank. One of the victim's dog was with them. The dog died due to the incident.

Police said someone with binoculars touring the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum happened to see the men clinging to the buoy in the 40-degree water.

According to Police, the man climbed atop the buoy and waited more than an hour for help. They were treated at a hospital for severe hypothermia.
