BROCKTON, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A teen who escaped serious injury after a car crash in Brockton is expected to be charged.
Authorities say that the crash happened during a car race on Frederick Douglas Avenue around 8:30 p.m. Thursday.
Two cars, an Audi and Volvo, were racing westbound on School Street.
Brockton Police Captain Mark Porcaro was in the area when he saw the car crashed into a building.
Porcaro got the teens out and moments later both the car and the building caught on fire.
The driver of the Audi, Abraham Belice, 18, of Brockton, and his passenger, another 18-year-old teen from Brockton, were taken to Good Samaritan Medical Center for minor injuries.
Police say that Belice will be charged with racing a motor vehicle, speeding, destruction of property, the negligent operation of a motor vehicle, and a passing violation.
In addition, the other driver, 19-year-old Nicholas Damon, also of Brockton, now faces multiple charges including racing a motor vehicle, the negligent operation of a motor vehicle and speeding.
