What is an Adversity Score? The College Board Exams, aka the SATs, taken by two million students a year has decided to assess students not just on their math and verbal skills, but on their educational and socioeconomic backgrounds as well. The new rating called the “adversity score,” rates the students background to take into consideration the relative quality of the student’s high school and the crime rate and poverty level of the student’s neighborhood. Is this fair?
