The Dangers On Methadone Mile. An officer at the Suffolk County House of Correction was attacked on methadone mile as he was heading to work yesterday prompting the Suffolk County Sheriff Steven Tompkins to call for an emergency meeting with Boston Mayor Marty Walsh, Suffolk DA Rachael Rollins and Boston Police Commissioner William Gros. The Sheriff says the situation outside of the House of Correction has become untenable and the safety of officers, staff and guests are now in jeopardy. Is this what comes from treating drug addiction as an illness?
