Parole for a Murderer? Child killer Charles Jaynes went before the parole board today appealing for freedom from his murder conviction. Bob Curley, father of Jaynes' ten-year-old victim Jeffrey Curley, testified at the hearing. His son was molested, murdered, and dumped in a river in Maine. Jeffrey's remains were found in a Rubbermaid box packed with concrete. Curley says Jaynes was a serial killer in the making and should never be let out. Do you agree?
Targeting City Councilors. This past weekend, vandals struck the homes of eight city councilors who voted in favor of the city budget that was narrowly approved following calls to “defund the police.” One of those hit was City Councilor Annissa Essaibi-George, a former schoolteacher and mother of four. Her home was plastered with mock report cards scoring her vote on the issues of climate, equity, immigration, public safety and public transportation. Essaibi-George joins Dan to talk about the vote, the vandalism, and what is next.
Locked and Loaded. A white couple in St. Louis pointed guns at protesters supporting the Black Lives Matter movement who broke into a gated community and allegedly threatened their lives, their home, and their pets. According to police, “The group began yelling obscenities and threats of harm to both victims. When the couple observed multiple subjects who were armed, they then armed themselves and contacted police.” Charges are being considered against both sides. Trespassing and fourth-degree assault by intimidation against the protesters and a civil rights violation against the McCloskey's for threatening to stop a peaceful protest. Whose side are you on?
