Providence Wants Reparations. The city of Providence, Rhode Island is considering reparations for people with African or Indigenous heritage. Today, Mayor Jorge Elorza signed an executive order that begins the process towards “reconciliation” and analyzes how feasible a reparations program would be. The Mayor says the move is the “first step in accepting the role Providence and Rhode Island has held in generations of pain and violence against these residents and healing some of the deepest wounds our country faces today.” Should Providence, RI have a reparations program?
Catching And Killing Coronavirus. A team of researchers at the University of Houston along with the Medistar Corporation have developed a super-heated air filter that can “catch and kill” Coronavirus! The nickel-based foam filter heats up to 200 degrees Celsius (392 degrees Fahrenheit) as part of a heated air disinfection system, effectively removing and killing 99.8% of COVID-19 viral particles. This development could be a game changer with returning to “normal” as the future hope is to implement this filtration systems into schools, hospitals, office buildings, and the like. The Star-Spangled Banner…Scratch That. It appears that there is a growing number of people trying to “cancel” The Star-Spangled Banner as our national anthem. There have been viral posts online calling the anthem a “racist song”. In the wake of these posts, a petition has been created to change the anthem and Major League Soccer announced they will not be playing that anthem any longer prior to games. Is it time we change the national anthem, or should it be left alone?
