Nightside with Dan Rea - Rundown for February 26, 2021

The Conundrum of Forgiving Student Loans. President Biden is being hammered by the progressive wing of his party to sign an executive order eliminating up to $50,000 in student loan debt per person. Boston.com polled over 6,000 users on this issue and discovered 37% thought wholesale loan forgiveness was unfair while 30% were in favor. Smaller fractions supported the elimination of $10,000 or interest payments. Where do you fall on the question?

The Missing Congressional Address. It is tradition for a new President to address Congress in February after the Inauguration. Former President Donald Trump addressed the joint session on February 28, 2017 while President Barack Obama gave his first speech to Congress on February 24, 2009. February is now over and President Biden has yet to set a date for his big joint session moment. Do you think the President intends to address Congress? If not, why?

Chronic. Autoimmune and chronic illnesses are a global crisis, with an estimated 50 million sufferers in the U.S. alone. Dr. Steven Phillips and Dana Parish join Dan to discuss the story leading up to their book Chronic: The Hidden Cause of the Autoimmune Pandemic and How to Get Healthy Again. If you are a sufferer of chronic pain or know someone who is, now is the time to call.

The Negro Baseball League. In honor of Black History Month and the start of the baseball training season, Dan will be joined by documentarian Bijan Bayne to discuss the time before Major League Baseball became integrated and how the color bar was finally eliminated. Tune in tonight!
