Nightside with Dan Rea - Rundown for March 16, 2021

The School Re-Opening Battle. A number of Massachusetts school districts are requesting waivers after the Commonwealth's Education Commissioner ordered elementary and middle school students back to full time in-class learning by the end of April. Meanwhile a number of state lawmakers, with support of the teacher's unions, are filing emergency legislation to give schools more time to re-open and make sure staff have COVID vaccinations. Should we just scrap in-person learning for this school year and aim for the fall? Rep. James Hawkins and Rep. Lindsay Sabadosa join Dan to discuss.

Back to the Office... It has been a year since the big shut down sent thousands of employees home to work remotely. Return-to-office schedules have been pushed back over and over again but with the national vaccination rollout well underway many offices are seriously contemplating asking employees to return to the office. Do you want to go back to the office, or do you prefer working from home?

Separate but Equal Graduations? Columbia University has made the decision to host 6 separate graduation ceremonies based on race, sex, and income. The school claims these separate graduations will help “incorporate meaningful cultural traditions and celebrate the specific contributions and achievements of their communities.” Are you in favor of separate graduations or do you think it actually promotes segregation?
