NightSide with Dan Rea - Rundown for July 12, 2021

Getting Rid of the Vaccination Exemptions. The Massachusetts Legislature held a hearing today on two vaccination bills that would end or limit COVID vaccination religious and medical exemptions for kids returning to school or daycare. One of the proposals also would allow children to be vaccinated without parental consent or knowledge. Do you support these efforts to mandate vaccinations for children and take away parent's rights to choose what medical care their children receive? Massachusetts General Hospital 's Dr. Sylvia Fogel, a witness at today's hearing joins Dan.

Door Knockers. Knock, knock. Who’s there? Local vaccination advocates trying to encourage you to get a COVID shot! The Biden Administration is on a mission to boost vaccinations numbers and one strategy to accomplish that is through door-to-door outreach. Biden said, "We need to go to community-by-community…often times, door-to-door, literally knocking on doors to get help to the remaining people protected from the virus.” Many conservatives expressed opposition and concern about this notion. How would you feel if a pro-vaccination advocate showed up on your doorstep?

Enough is Enough. Cuban citizens took to the streets this past weekend as a form of protest against their communist government. Cubans are calling on the disbandment of their country’s dictatorship as they face food shortages, lack of freedom, and a worsening economy. Some Democrats claim the protests are over rising COVID numbers and lack of medicine. The Biden Administration put out a statement today saying, “we stand with the Cuban people” and their calls for “freedom and relief from decades of repression…by Cuba’s authoritarian regime.” What do you make of the massive anti-government demonstration?
