The Bike Lanes Cometh. The Cambridge Massachusetts City Council is in the process of installing 25 miles of protected bike lanes throughout the city over a period of five to seven years. While good news for cyclists, local businesses and residents are facing the destruction of much needed on-street parking spaces in favor of the new protected bike lanes. What is a business to do? Democrat Legislative Meltdown. President Biden is having trouble within his own party over the passage of two pieces of legislation. The party is trying to pass a $1.2 trillion infrastructure bill and a $3.5 trillion Build Back Better bill. The trouble lies with the $3.5 trillion plan where democratic moderates and progressives are negotiating a compromise that would spend money on childcare, paid leave, health care, education, and the fight against climate change.
