The Argument Over Identifying Human Remains. There is a debate afoot in the world of archeology over whether to identify human remains as male or female. Gender activists argue that scientists cannot possibly know how an ancient individual identified themselves so they should refrain from labeling. Some archeologists in favor of applying biological sex to remains say that by doing so it dispels myths and false stereotypes detrimental to women.
