NightSide News Update. We kick off the program with four news stories and different guests on the stories we think you need to know about! For one of our segments this evening, we will be joined by Rep. Chris Markey about the bill he introduced that would allow law enforcement to seize vehicles involved in illegal street takeovers and car meetups.
Threats Against MCSW Appointee. In August, Gov. Maura Healey appointed Giselle Byrd, a trans woman to the Massachusetts Commission on the Status of Women. It’s an independent state agency focused on the advancement of women and girls toward full equity in all areas of life. Giselle has recently received death threats and racist, transphobic comments online after an article about her appointment spread. Giselle will join us this evening on NightSide to discuss the threats against her, Gov. Healey’s support, and her position at the MCSW.

Some emails revealed that Epstein made a sizable donation to former Harvard University president Larry Summers’ wife, Elisa New, a prominent Harvard poetry professor, which enabled her to expand her academic reach. According to the Boston Globe, this donation or “gift” did not appear in Harvard's 2020 report on Epstein donations to the university. We'll discuss the importance of this and more regarding the Epstein emails.
