BOSTON (AP) — Law enforcement officials are planning to hold an active shooter exercise at the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center.
State police say the Massachusetts Convention Center Authority will host the exercise on Friday.
Police say people will see lots of activity around the center during the exercise, dubbed "Operation Vanguard."
Officials from state police, Boston police, the FBI and other agencies have been working for the last two years to create an active shooter joint response plan for the center.
Gov. Charlie Baker last year created a task force of experts to examine the safety and security of large venues, like stadiums and convention centers.
Officials say this will be the first full scale exercise to happen at a large venue since that executive order was signed.
