GLOUCESTER, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — People flocked to Gloucester's Good Harbor Beach as Massachusetts encounters another round of hot weather.

The National Weather Service (NWS) issued a heat advisory for most of the state on Tuesday.

"It's so hot out here man," one beachgoer said.

Tuesday saw temperatures close to 100 degrees. According to the NWS, temperatures hit 98 degrees at Boston Logan around 3 p.m., breaking a previous record set in 1933. For some residents the water was the perfect solution for the scorching heat.

"Lots of swimming in the cold water," remarked another beachgoer. "The air conditioner is helping."

Beachgoers say they intended on indulging in all the beach has to offer.

"Big plan for the day is, yep, getting in the water as much as possible and soaking up the sun," stated one resident.

Meantime, Boston Mayor Michelle Wu declared a Heat Advisory in the city through Wednesday. Residents were urged to wear light clothing, limit strenuous activity outdoors, wear sunscreen and drink plenty of fluids. Some beachgoers were fully prepared to battle the heat on the beach.

"A cooler right here full of Gatorade and water and enough sunscreen to cover a family of five," proclaimed another beachgoer.

And one family refused to let the heat ruin an annual tradition.

"It's our oldest daughter's 11th birthday and it's a tradition to come here to Good Harbor beach, so we're very fortunate. Thankful for a beautiful weather day," said one family member, who came to the beach from Natick.
