BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The Bruins lead the Hurricanes 2-0 after a pair of lopsided wins in Boston to open the East finals. Series shifts to Carolina for Game 3 tonight, and B's coach Bruce Cassidy and vet David Backes know it won't be easy.

"Did I expect this? No," Cassidy said. "We wanted to be in this situation, we prepared to win every game. But listen, it's only two. A lot can happen, so we're focused right now on Game 3, take care of business there. It's going to be a lot more difficult, but I think our guys will be ready."

"Going into their building, it's a tough place to play, tough place to win, and we've got our work cut out for us," Backes said.

The 'Canes are a perfect 5-and-0 at home this postseason, but the B's have momentum on their side with five straight wins and an 11-4 advantage the last two.

Sean Kuraly touched on what his mindset would be if he sat on the trailing side.

"Do or die," he said. "It'd be like your back's up against the wall, and we're gonna have to bring the same thing if we want a chance to win. It's 2-0 right now, but it's all about Game 3."

Boston's taken a 2-0 series lead in 32 series all-time, and won 24 of them. And, worth noting, Carolina rallied from this same deficit to oust Washington in Round 1.

Puck drops at 8.
