BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio/TTWN) — The St. Louis Blues are celebrating their first Stanley Cup championship.
They beat the Boston Bruins 4-1 in Game Seven of the Stanley Cup Final in Boston Wednesday. Ryan O'Reilly and Alex Pietrangelo scored in the first period and Brayden Schenn and Zach Stanford added goals in the third for St. Louis.
Jordan Binnington made 32 saves for the Blues, who had been 0-and-3 all-time in the Stanley Cup Final.
Matt Grzelcyk broke up the shutout late in the third for the Bruins, who were denied their seventh title and first since 2011. Tuukka Rask stopped 16 shots in defeat.
