Did Danny Ainge Take A Shot At Last Year's Celtics?

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — More people around the NBA—and seemingly in the Celtics organization—expect All-Star Kyrie Irving to leave this offseason—likely for the Nets, Knicks, or Lakers—and, despite his talent, the guard may not be missed that much.

After years complaining about his time in Cleveland behind the scenes and, reportedly, not enjoying Boston either, even C's radio broadcaster Sean Grande tweeted, "if you have story after story of all the bad roommates you've had over the years, guess what, you are the bad roommate."

Celts president of basketball operations Danny Ainge said yesterday he's a big fan of his rookie class. Four guys with loads of character. And, maybe, he offered a not so subtle jab at Irving in the process.

"It just makes life more enjoyable when everybody is humble, hard-working, and will play any role that they have to to help a team succeed," Ainge said. "You do have to have a certain amount of talent to win in our league as we all know, but good people makes coming to work more fun."

Grant Williams' comments were symbolic of the rest.

"Really just gonna be whatever it takes for us to hang the next banner here," he said. "I'm a team player, doesn't really matter what you need me to do. However I can make an impact, whatever you ask me, whatever Coach Stevens needs, that's what I'll do."
