BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Hundreds of people gathered at the Boston Harbor on Tuesday night to watch a fireworks show as part of Boston Harborfest.

Harborfest is a four-day-long event celebrating Boston’s maritime and revolutionary history. There are hundreds of activities, including fireworks, historical reenactments, live music, markets, and more.

The fireworks display and other Harborfest events drew people from across Massachusetts and beyond, many of whom wanted to be in the historical city in honor of Independence Day.

“It’s cool to visit the places where the Founding Fathers rabble-roused and set our country free ultimately. So it’s fun to be at the origin of that,” said a woman visiting from Atlanta.

Another person shared what it means to be in Boston to celebrate the national holiday.

“It’s really special to be here over the 4th, especially with our boys and family, and just reading about the importance of freedom for all people and what that means,” said another woman at the fireworks show on Tuesday.
