BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — AccuWeather reported that the weather forecast for April 15, the day of the Boston Marathon, is projected to be sunny, slightly windy, and mostly in the 50s and 60s.

Thousands of runners will be making the journey from Hopkinton to Boylston Street in Boston for the 128th Boston Marathon on Monday.

AccuWeather's Brian Thompson delved into the forecast and what it means for both runners and spectators.

"The good news is it will be dry, but maybe a little warm for some runners' likings. We're going to be starting off the start of the marathon probably in the low- to mid-50s for temperatures," he said.

"There will be a decent breeze blowing too. It's going to be out of the west-northwest it looks like, so that will be a tailwind for pretty much the entire length of the marathon."

That tailwind will work in runners' favor, potentially giving them an extra push up Heartbreak Hill in Newton and helping to cool them down as well.

"It's going to feel warm in the sun. The breeze may add a bit of a cooling effect," explained Thompson.

For spectators, "it's going to be a fantastic day to watch, very comfortable," said Thompson, with sunny conditions and temperatures reaching the mid-60s.
