WELLESLEY, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Wellesley College students cheered on athletes during the Boston Marathon on Monday.
Right before the runners crossed over the marathon’s halfway mark, they passed through the iconic scream tunnel in Wellesley. Students cheered and screamed for hours.
Wellesley College alum Mathias participated in the scream tunnel for a fifth year on Monday.
“There’s so much positive energy because everybody is here cheering everybody on just for the sake that they’re running this marathon, that they’re doing this,” Mathias said.
According to Mathias, there is a strategy to getting a little bit of the love in return.
“You’ve got to wait until about, like, noon when all the more fun runners come through who are like wearing a Spider-Man costume or have the body paint on. And they’re there for the high fives and the kisses and everything,” Mathias said.
