Police, Bar Owners To Meet After Boston Nightclub Kidnappings

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Boston Police Commissioner William Gross has asked representatives from bars and restaurants in Boston to attend a meeting next week to discuss the safety of patrons.

This comes in the wake of two high-profile kidnappings of young women from local nightclubs. One woman was raped, and the other, a young mother from Dorchester, was murdered.

"It's not gonna be what they call a 'Come to Jesus' meeting," Gross said. "It's gonna be a meeting where we can find out how we can work collaboratively together to protect the patrons and our city."

Gross said he wants to get everyone on the same page in terms of what technologies and practices might be available to keep patrons safe.

Mayor Marty Walsh echoed the commissioner's sentiment that the meeting isn't about finding blame—it's about offering solutions.
