BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The talents of Boston Public School students were on display Wednesday at Boston City Hall Plaza, as part of this week's City-Wide Arts Festival

The 13th annual festival features some 1,100 dancers, musicians, and actors. Boston Public Schools Executive Director of the Arts Amy Wedge said it is a great way to end the school year on a high note.

"It's really just an opportunity to get the students out of their schools to showcase all of the hard work they've been doing all year, share what they do with each other," she said. "They get a chance to see each other perform, and also have the public be able to see what we do in Boston public schools every day."

Wedge added that performing out in public helps the students feel appreciated. "It's important the children are validated in identifying as artists and seeing that what they do is appreciated by others."

The performances this week include a gospel choir, an orchestra, theatre, dance, jazz, pop/rock and R&B.

The festival, hosted by Boston actor and theatre educator Naheem Garcia, is happening through Friday.

It's being held in partnership with EdVestors, BPS Arts Expansion, and the City of Boston Property Management Department
