Rafael Devers On A Tear For Surging Red Sox

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Red Sox rallied to sweep the Orioles yesterday, and Rafael Devers came up big for manager Alex Cora's squad during a five-run 10th.

"That's probably the hardest ball I have ever seen since, like, 2004, when Barry was hitting home runs against the Dodgers all the time," Cora said. "I mean, that was loud, and to stay on that pitch and go the other way, that was tremendous."

Devers probably doesn't get many Barry Bonds comparisons, but I'm sure he doesn't mind. And, lately, he's been a big part of Boston's turnaround from losses in five of six to a five-game win streak.

He is 11-for-26—a .423 average—since going hitless in 20 straight at-bats.

During the run, he's homered twice, doubled, tripled, scored five times, and driven in five runs.

Tonight, Devers will have to deal with Twins ace Jose Berrios. He has a 2.53 ERA in seven starts in Minnesota.
