BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — After an act of vandalism curbed holiday festivities at The Anchor in Charlestown in 2024, the venue said it is returning “bigger and better.”

“All of our electricity, our lighting, our power, our wifi, everything was torn out and damaged, which basically shut us down for months,” said Shelby Elwell, National Production Manager and Vice President at The Anchor’s parent company, Anthem Hospitality.

Despite having to cancel all winter programming after the damage, Elwell said they’re ready to spread some holiday cheer this season.

“This is feeling sort of like our comeback year, and kind of the moment to prove to everyone that this incident isn’t going to stop us going forward, and we are going to come back bigger and better than ever,” said Elwell.

A tree lighting will take place next Thursday at The Anchor, kicking off the Frozen Fire Festival, a new event coming to Boston.

“That is an event that the Anthem Group curated, it’s our fourth year, and it’s making its Boston debut, so it’s the first time it’s ever been in Boston,” said Elwell.

More information on the event can be found here.
