BOSTON (AP) — The first recreational marijuana store in the immediate Boston area will be opening soon.
New England Treatment Access, which currently operates a medical marijuana dispensary at the Brookline site, has announced it will also begin selling recreational marijuana products to adults 21 and over next Saturday.
The company's Northampton outlet was one of the first two in the state to open in November. Recreational pot is now available at a dozen stores around the state, but the Brookline location is the first in close proximity to Boston. There are no pot shops yet in the city itself.
NETA says it working with police and local officials on traffic and parking issues and to assure a safe opening.
