BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Celebrating National Coffee Day will be the best part of waking up on Monday.

First recognized in Japan in 1983 by the All Japan Coffee Association, the unofficial holiday gained traction in the United States in the mid-80s. According to the National Coffee Association, coffee remains one of the most popular beverage choices, with Americans consuming more coffee each day than any other beverage, aside from water. Today, Americans drink 400 million cups of coffee daily.

The coffee industry supports over two million jobs in the U.S., contributing nearly $350 billion to the economy annually. While coffee lovers usually consume two cups of coffee a day, National Coffee Day is the perfect time to capitalize on the deals in the Bay State.
