NORTH ATTLEBORO, Mass (WBZ NewsRadio) — Marty, the seven-foot googly-eyed robot patrolling the aisles of local grocers, is concerning some Stop and Shop customers. Using internal cameras to detect spills and debris, Marty alerts employees of a problem area and hangs out in the aisle until the mess is cleaned up.

Shoppers Haunted By So Called Ghost At Wilmington Market Basket

People are finding more than groceries in the aisles at a grocery store in Wilmington. The store says if it's a ghost, they are just a frugal shopper.

"At first it takes you off guard," one customer said. "You look up and all of a sudden something's coming at you. You're not used to seeing something move like that."

"It's silly," Jeff from Rhode Island added. "I don't think they need it."

But other customers were more agreeable. "The idea of detecting spills quickly and getting cleanup there, might save somebody a slip and a fall," Karen told WBZ NewsRadio.
