PHOTOS: Wrentham Firefighters Help Pup With Toy Stuck In Mouth

BOSTON (WBZ-AM) — Wrentham Firefighters and veterinary staff had a tricky time prying a dog's chew toy free after she got it stuck in her mouth and around her nose over the weekend.

The adorable pup's owner came to the station shortly before 2 p.m. Sunday asking for help.

"The dog thankfully did not have a compromised airway and seemed to be in good spirits but it was obvious that the pup was distressed as the object was lodged on her lower jaw," the department wrote on their Facebook page.

They used "multiple tools" to try to cut the toy off, but were worried about hurting her—so they took the pup to Tufts VETS in Walpole, where the staff sedated her and used a cast cutter to cut away the toy.

Now, they said, the dog is home and unhurt.

"Be careful with the toys you give your furry friends and whatever the need, we are here 24/7, 365," the department wrote. "Glad our canine resident got the help she needed today!"
