BROCKTON, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A two-day commemoration is underway in Brockton to mark the 100th anniversary of D.W. Field Park.

"We've got food trucks. We've got vendors with crafts. We also have resource tables from the community," Patrick Quinn, president of the D.W. Field Park Association, said.

The family-friendly centennial celebration at Waldo Lake Green Space features live music from nearly two dozen bands playing hip-hop, jazz, and rock 'n' roll, pony rides, face painting, and a magician.

"We're going to have so much fun seeing all the booths and the magic show," said Michaela, who was there with her two sons, Providence and Peace.

Supported in part by a grant from the Brockton Local Cultural Council and the City of Brockton's Mayor's Office and Parks Department, attendees can learn to fish, check out one of the bands, or catch a lift on a hay ride.

Created in 1925 by Daniel W. Field as a getaway for the city's shoemakers, families, and farmers, the festival highlights the park's 650 acres of woodlands, lakes, ponds, and fields in Brockton. The celebration ends Saturday at 7 p.m.
