BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — FAN EXPO Boston, the popular three-day pop culture festival, returns to the Seaport to celebrate all things pop-culture this weekend.

The event includes panels, photo ops and a huge artist ally filled with vendors selling fan-made collectables from a variety of genres from sci-fi to horror and anime.

Thousands of people are expected to pack up the Thomas M. Menino Convention and Exhibition Center all weekend, some dawning extravagant cosplay that took months of planning.

Like Sam and Nan whose costumes, made from card-board boxes, replicated characters from Transformers.

“It took me around a month or two [to make] because I was procrastinating a lot,” the pair told WBZ NewsRadio.

Since 2007, FAN EXPO Boston has attracted several celebrities, artists, studio icons and small businesses to attend.

This year’s event is no different as Ewan McGregor, Hayden Christesen John Cena and more are slated to make appearances.

Even Red Sox Pitcher Liam Hendricks said he is excited to see some people from the lineup or “pretty much anyone in that kind of realm.”

FAN EXPO Boston lasts through Sunday. For more on tickets and schedule, visit the website here.
