BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Police in Boston are investigating after the Vietnam War memorial in the Fenway Rose Garden was vandalized with red paint.
A clean-up crew worked to remove the paint with a power washer Friday morning, but it proved to be more challenging than expected. Some of the white lettering had started coming off.
“I think we might have to go in there at some point and redo the lettering as well," Boston's Veterans Services Commissioner Robert Santiago said.

Boston Police are investigating the act of vandalism, along with some more red paint found on a sidewalk nearby to see if there's a connection.
"This is sacred land right here for the Vietnam, Korea, the World War II right behind us. And for anybody to do anything is just, as a veteran, as a commissioner, as an American, it really ticks me off," Santiago said.
Santiago said he doesn't know if the memorial was singled out, or if "it's just random acts of stupidity amongst people who don't know what the memorials stand for."
