BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — A fight broke out between three students on a Boston Public School bus Friday morning.

According to Sergeant Detective John Boyle, department spokesman, the police arrived to the fight around 8 a.m. at 245 Centre St. in Jamaica Plain.

The bus was transporting McKinley School students to the summer learning program at Orchard Gardens School. Boston's McKinley Schools are four schools in one, that provide special education for students in kindergarten through grade 12. The schools focus on emotional, behavioral, and learning needs, according to the Boston Public Schools website.

In a statement from Boston Public Schools, the bus driver immediately pulled over the bus and notified BPS Transportation when the fight broke out.

One student and four adults, two of which are Boston police officers, were transported to nearby hospitals after police responded to the fight.

The student transported to the hospital was accompanied by a parent who arrived at the scene, the statement said. Two officers along with the bus driver and a bus monitor were also taken to area Boston hospitals for further evaluation.

The other students on the bus were evaluated by EMS and were transferred to school on a new bus, the school system claimed.

All families of students on the bus have been notified by BPS.

“Violence of any kind is not tolerated in the Boston Public Schools,” the school district’s statement said. “Our buses are an extension of our classrooms.”

Students on the bus were between third to eighth grade.

This situation remains under investigation and no further details have been released.
