BROCKTON, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Dozens of home and businesses were left without water Sunday afternoon when a water main broke in Brockton, Mass. The underground pipe broke on North Main Street near Upland Road.

Repairs have now been completed, and water service will be restored with full pressure around 8 p.m. Sunday, according to Brockton Mayor Bill Carpenter.

Carpenter said the break is a sign of a problem in Brockton’s water infrastructure.

“We’re running around putting band aids on,” Carpenter said. “But at some point, we need a major capital investment. We need help from the federal government to make that type of investment.”
