BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Some are howling over the cancellation of a dog-friendly cocktail hour at a Boston hotel—but it may return.

The Liberty Hotel said it is cancelling Yappier-Hour, at least for now. It was a weekly summer event held at the dog-friendly hotel, where owners could bring their dogs along while they enjoyed a drink.

Boston Mayor Marty Walsh said the concern is about having alcohol, food, and canines in the same space at the same time.

"We have to just have a process to see how that works out, that's what the next step is here," Walsh told WBZ NewsRadio's JAmes

In a statement Tuesday, Walsh's office said the Inspectional Services Department is meeting with the hotel to ensure the event is able to continue, while also complying with state regulations—and added that the mayor is supportive of events like Yappier Hour, which the hotel was happy to hear.
