BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Long lines snake through the halls of Logan Airport as travelers head in and out of the city on the weekend before the Boston Marathon.

People from all across the world are starting to trickle into the city ahead of the 128th Boston Marathon on Monday. However, many Massachusetts residents are heading in the opposite direction as many schools are heading into their April Vacation week.

Some people scheduled their flights earlier in the hopes of beating the traffic of people arriving for the marathon.

"It feels like a good time to escape," one traveler told WBZ NewsRadio's James Rojas. "Thankfully we have TSA PreCheck so we can skip some shenanigans, but we're glad to be getting out of town."

Even though people have their hearts set on a vacation elsewhere, plenty of vacationers are bummed they'll be missing out on the city's annual tradition.

"I'm so sad to miss it," another traveler said. "We've been going to that like our whole lives."

Despite the poor Friday morning weather, most flights appear to heading off and coming in without too many issues—only a few flights were canceled and a few dozen were delayed, according to Flight Aware.
