WAKEFIELD, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Friday, April 25 was Arbor Day this year, a holiday that encourages planting trees.
Many people spent time in Breakheart Reservation to celebrate nature on this day, whether they were aware of the holiday or not.
Deanna from Wakefield was not aware of the day, but regardless, she was happy to be at the reservation.
“It’s awesome out here, you can hear the birds, the owls, you see the deer running around sometimes a fox, it's a fun time out here connecting with nature,” Deanna said. “The pines are beautiful, there's some birch trees along the way out here in the reservation.”
When Cam was asked what his favorite part of the reservation was, he said “The trees of course!”
Joe also loved the trees, mentioning how he loves walking around Breakheart to appreciate them and “not have to worry about cars.”
He also encouraged folks to continue to plant trees to keep nature as beautiful as it is now.
“You got to carry it on, without any trees it’d look pretty bad, we need them,” Joe said.
