NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Law enforcement officials conducted a major raid on Tuesday, seizing a variety of guns, explosives, and ammunition.
Officials executed a warrant after Daniel Medina, a 64-year-old man from North Andover, allegedly set off an explosive device that damaged two vehicles and tried to cover up the damage later with spray paint.
Authorities seized homemade explosives, more than 30 guns, and large-capacity ammunition feeders from his residence.
They discovered that Medina’s license to carry weapons had expired in 2000.
Medina was charged with five felony counts and three misdemeanor charges.

“We are thankful for the hard work of the officers and assisting agencies involved in this case,” said North Andover Police Chief Charles Gray Tucker in a press release on Wednesday.
“We also appreciate the citizens of North Andover who, despite inconveniences, allowed this investigation to take place without interruption.”

In Lawrence District Court on Wednesday, Medina was charged with five felonies tied to being a felon in possession of a firearm, possessing and improperly storing an automatic rifle, and vandalizing property.
He pled not guilty, and he will be held without bail until a dangerousness hearing on July 12.
“Anyone who is under the impression that they will not face consequences for illegally stockpiling weapons without a license is absolutely wrong,” said Essex County District Attorney Paul.
“We will continue to prosecute in such cases in order to keep our communities safe.”
