BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Traveling just got a little easier at Logan Airport thanks to the help of some furry friends. The Massachusetts Port Authority (Massport) has officially launched a new program named “BOS PAWS”, which introduces dogs at Logan Airport to help reduce stress for those coming in and out of Boston.

Passengers are encouraged to engage with the BOS PAWS crew in their trip through the airport in efforts to put travelers at ease. The BOS PAWS includes Giant Schnauzer named Remy, a West Highland Terrier (“westie”) named Buster, and a French Bulldog named Waffles.

“We know that traveling can be stressful, and I know time with a little furry friend can be of great comfort,” Governor Maura Healey said to the press.

The BOS PAWS program will provide therapy dogs throughout all terminals to create a de-stressing moment for travelers. Handlers and the dogs themselves will have more than a year of experience participating in similar programs.

“At Boston Logan, we are very focused on creating a seamless and stress-free experience for travelers from the minute they walk into our terminals,” Massport CEO Rich Davey said to the press.

According to the National Institute of Health (NIH), interaction with animals has been shown to decreased stress and lower blood pressure.
