BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — MSPCA-Angell celebrated several milestones to close out 2025.

Through the animal relocation program created in 2021 with the Northeast Animal Shelter (NEAS), MSPCA-Angell said they have helped over 20,000 animals find new homes, after they were moved to the Bay State.

“The only way to address the most pressing issues in animal welfare is to work together, and that’s why we merged with NEAS,” Vice President of the MSPCA-Angell’s Animal Protection Division, Mike Keiley, said in a statement. “Together, we’ve transported more than 20,000 dogs and cats here from out-of-state shelters—a remarkable achievement for the betterment of animals!”

Keiley also highlighted the success of their local intake program. The organization accepted more than 5,000 cats and dogs, including those surrendered by their owners. MSPCA was also able to provide nearly 100 animals with a safe haven after natural disasters impacted states like Louisiana, California, and Texas.

“Regardless of where the disaster happened, we were there to help shelters by taking animals that were already in their care,” Keiley said in the release. “By doing so, we helped them open up space to house animals who were lost or temporarily displaced.”

The nonprofit is trying to raise $50,000 to fund spay clinics to support the trap, neuter, vaccinate, return (TNVR) program.

“TNVR is a vital part of addressing animal overpopulation, so it’s important to help establish programs there and give local shelters the tools needed to manage them,” Keiley stated.
