PRESQUE ISLE, Maine (WBZ NewsRadio) — Four people were injured after a United Express flight from Newark, New Jersey, veered off the runway during landing at Northern Maine Regional Airport in Presque Isle, Maine Monday.
According the FAA, United Express/CommutAir flight 4933, a 50-seat Embraer 45X, landed on Runway 1 then veered off the runway onto the grass at 1:43 a.m.
CommutAir, the regional air-carrier which operates the flight on behalf of United Express, said four of the 31 people on board had minor injuries, one of which was a pilot and the other three passengers.
They were being attended to by emergency personnel, the airline said.
Photos posted to social media showed the aircraft on its belly with a landing gear in the left engine.
Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the incident and local media there say that that the airport would be closed until further notice.
