NATICK, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Pop Mart, the makers of the viral monster Labubu toys, officially opened its first Massachusetts retail store in the Natick Mall Tuesday.
Many who showed up on for the opening were only there for one thing: Labubus.
“Me and my mom have been fighting the Pop Mart app and getting Labubus, but now we can actually just go to the store, and it’s going to be so fun,” Jocelyn told WBZ NewsRadio.
Pop Mart is a Chinese toy company that has been making waves in the U.S. through the popularity of their monster doll and blind boxes. There are currently about 40 Pop Mart stores across the country.
According to Wired, based on Pop Mart’s latest financial report, the Labubu doll series already produced $670 million in revenue for the toy company in the first six months of this year.
Labubus are not just a hit among kids; adults of all ages were buzzed with excitement ahead of the store’s opening.
“I have ten on different bags,” Deborah said, adding that she even got little outfits to spice up her dolls.
“I have four daughters, and they got Labubus so now we are a Labubu family,” she added.
The grand opening of the Natick Mall store is just a glimpse into the impact and popularity of these dolls, with each doll costing anywhere from $20 to upwards of $100.
“I want a Let’s Checkmate, which is like a big one, but it’s like $150, so my dad is not going to get that for me, so I’m asking Santa,” Jocelyn said.
