READING, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A Reading man who police say shot a handgun into the air near a snow-shoveling neighbor faced a judge in Woburn District Court Wednesday morning.
Jeffrey Logan, 38,screamed obscenities at reporters as he arrived at court. He was cuffed and escorted with four officers at the ready and as the prosecution read the charges against him, Logan exhaled heavily, scowled and rolled his eyes.
The Judge was told that Logan was was uncooperative with court officials after his arrest. Logan, who authorities say has a long record, faces several charges, including assault with a dangerous weapon, illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition, and discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling.
Reading Police said they responded to a Woburn Street home around 11:45 p.m. Tuesday after Logan's neighbor reported Logan had approached them while shoveling and shot into the air.
"He then told the complaining witness that he better not snitch," the prosecutor told the Judge.
Logan was locked in his apartment, but officers got a key from the landlord, and around 2:55 a.m. Wednesday, SWAT officers took him into custody.
Police said they found a handgun in the apartment. Nobody was injured.
Logan will be held for a dangerousness hearing.
